Technical Manager – Hong Kong
Position Overview
Creative Technology Hong Kong is looking for a hands-on, solutions-driven Technical Manager to oversee the end-to-end technical delivery of live events and projects. You will provide expert advice, design robust technical solutions, and lead on-site execution to ensure our clients receive reliable, innovative, and world‑class service.
This role suits an experienced technical professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, collaborating across departments, and working in fast-paced, live event environments. You will work closely with Technical Director, Project Managers, department heads, and clients to turn creative concepts into technically sound, operationally efficient productions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Planning & Design
- Take accurate client and internal briefs, translating requirements into practical technical concepts and proposed solutions.
- Devise and support the creation of technical project solutions using the most appropriate equipment and in‑house expertise, ensuring continuity of service across the business.
- Produce clear and timely documentation, including planning sheets, timelines, equipment requirement lists, schematics, block diagrams and/or technical drawings so that both the internal team and the client fully understand the technical scope.
On-Site Leadership & Delivery
- Act as the primary technical point of contact while on location, liaising with clients, production teams, and crew.
- Lead on-site technical delivery, overseeing setup, operation, and de-rig to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality.
- Manage and respond decisively to last‑minute changes, unforeseen issues, or client requests, maintaining a calm and solutions-focused approach throughout live events.
Systems & Schema Design
- Use AUTOCAD, Vectorworks, and other system schema design tools to develop and illustrate technical solutions, including system diagrams and layouts.
- Present and review designs internally with department heads and key stakeholders, working collaboratively to refine concepts and resolve technical challenges.
- Ensure designs follow best practices for reliability, maintainability, and future scalability.
Health, Safety & Site Management
- Conduct site surveys to assess technical, logistical, and safety requirements prior to project deployment.
- Take ownership of on-site health and safety, preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and ensuring they are communicated and followed.
- Proactively report and document any safety breaches, near misses, or incidents, and support continuous improvement of HSE standards.
Financial Awareness & Continuous Improvement
- Make informed recommendations for capital expenditure on facilities and equipment that enhance service quality and add value for clients.
- Seek opportunities to optimize resources and reduce direct and indirect project costs without compromising quality or safety.
- Contribute ideas to improve workflows, processes, and technical standards to support CT’s growth and financial performance across the region.
Who We’re Looking For
Skills & Experience
- Strong, broad technical knowledge across audio, video, lighting, and high-definition systems, with understanding of transmission paths, communications, and relevant equipment specifications.
- Proven track record delivering a range of live event or technical projects, ideally within the events, entertainment, broadcast, or installations sector.
- Comfortable working with AUTOCAD, Vectorworks and basic system design tools, as well as extensive computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and related applications.

- Effective people leader with strong team management skills, able to motivate and support crew and freelance staff on-site.
- Professional, diplomatic, and discreet when dealing with clients and partners at all levels.
- Decisive, with good judgment in production planning and live event decision‑making, maintaining composure under pressure.
