Live events come in many different shapes and sizes and when it comes to global deliveries, the complexities can be challenging. At its core, Creative Technology (CT) is built to deliver global reach with a local touch and this strength drives the team at CT to be active technical ambassadors to the world. Solid partnerships, dependable customer service, technical expertise and the motivation to inspire have provided opportunities to work regularly on some of the most high-profile, multinational events on the planet. From Olympic Games and World Cups to global conferences and World Expos, Creative Technology understands what it takes to deliver amazing experiences to global audiences.
One thing that these large-scale global events have in common is that planning tends to start months and sometimes years in advance. This allows for every moving part to be addressed and the best technical solutions identified. Due to the scope, scale and stature of these types of events, there are often infrastructure concerns and new construction requirements to consider. These projects also tend to bring together a wide variety of stakeholders and influencers with very specific ideas and goals. Above all else, the goal is to support clients in their storytelling and this requires the inventive capability to be creative with technology.
In the past 12 months alone, CT has supported several recognizable events including FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Ryder Cup golf in Italy, Wimbledon, the US Open and the Australian Open tennis tournaments, the Eurovision Song Contest, and the British Coronation Concert. Our history is rich with experience when it comes to these types of events and our success is based on the same principles and procedures that form the foundations of how we approach each day and what Creative Technology stands for.
Right now, there are production teams around the globe engaged in this process as we begin to work with our partners on EXPO 2025. The 2025 World Expo will be held in Osaka, Japan, for six months from April to October. It promises to be a cultural celebration hosting a projected 28 million visitors during its run. This will be Osaka’s third time hosting EXPO and first time since 1990. Along with the core entertainment areas, meeting halls, event spaces and plazas, 22 countries will host individual pavilions as well as numerous buildouts for partners, corporations, and global organizations.
Our EXPO teams are hard at work, having recently completed EXPO 2020 and now focused on Osaka. Normally held once every five years, EXPO 2020 in Dubai was postponed due to the pandemic, running from October 2021 through March 2022. In Dubai, Creative Technology supported several pavilions and installations including:
USA Pavilion – DP World Pavilion – ENOC Pavilion – UK Pavilion – Dubai Millennium Arena – Jubilee Stage
And the centerpiece of the exposition, the award-winning Al Wasl Dome which included a 360-degree immersive projection experience, the largest such display in the world.
At the close of EXPO 2020, the Al Wasl Dome and the surrounding areas were reborn as Expo City, a smart, human-centric, mixed-use community that is flourishing in Dubai. CT continues to provide technical support for the immersive experience and was recently awarded a three-year contract extension.
As we look forward to 2024 and beyond, all of us at Creative Technology are thankful for the opportunities we’ve had working on these unique, dynamic, and challenging projects. We take pride in knowing that we have the best people, the best inventory and positive, forward-thinking leadership across the company to continue to deliver on a global scale, with a local touch.
