Eurovision Song Contest 2025

Creative Technology – Official Technical Supplier for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025

The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the world’s largest live music broadcasts, uniting over 30 participating countries in a celebration of music, performance, and broadcast excellence. Known for its ambitious production values and a global audience of over 200 million viewers, Eurovision blends cutting-edge technology with complex live event logistics to deliver three unforgettable shows.

The technology behind the world’s biggest live music broadcasts

The 2025 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, hosted in Basel, Switzerland at the St. Jakobshalle, was organized by Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). As the Official Technical Supplier, Creative Technology Sweden was responsible for the full deployment of all video and LED systems, playing a crucial role in transforming artistic visions into live performances on one of the most sophisticated stages in the world.

“It’s the biggest broadcast music event in the world,” says Niclas Ljung, Technical Director at Creative Technology Europe “The challenge,” explains Ljung, “is that every country wants a unique visual identity. That means the stage must be extremely versatile.”

A true team effort

Delivering a show of this scale is never a solo effort. The 2025 edition brought together a strong and diverse crew from multiple Creative Technology offices across Europe. The mix of experience, hard work and collaboration on site was key to the success of this year’s production.

Designed for performance and flexibility

Each year, the Eurovision stage is designed to reflect the identity of the host country, while offering the adaptability required to support the distinct creative direction of every performance. The 2025 stage design drew inspiration from Switzerland’s iconic landscapes, with mountain shapes incorporated into the structure and illuminated to echo the natural environment.

“The challenge,” says Niclas, “is that every country wants to look different. So, the stage must be extremely adaptable.”

Creative Technology provides the full video infrastructure behind that flexibility:

  • High-resolution ROE LED walls and ROE LED flooring.
  • Disguise media servers and playback systems to ensure seamless transitions between acts.
  • Pixel-accurate video control across all display elements, in co-operation with MegapixelVR.
  • Sixteen RQ35 projectors, in co-operation with Disguise, doing the scenic projections on the sides of the stage.

“We don’t design the content, but we deliver the platform it runs on, everything from LED to signal flow.”

Impressive light and LED production

Show-ready systems with built-in resilience

The entire production environment was built on an IP-based video infrastructure (ST 2110), eliminating traditional baseband connections. This all-digital setup represents a significant technological advancement, offering greater flexibility and scalability. Real-time system monitoring and proprietary tools developed by Creative Technology helped ensure reliable performance throughout the event. Every piece of equipment deployed on site was continuously monitored, allowing the team to act on potential issues before they became visible.

Redundancy was a key component of the system architecture, including mirrored playback systems, dual signal paths, and backup servers—allowing the show to continue seamlessly, even in the event of technical issues. All systems were pre-assembled and thoroughly tested off-site before arriving in Basel.

“What delegations see in rehearsals has to be identical to what goes out live,” says Niclas. “That’s where the real pressure lies.”

More than just three nights

While the live broadcasts aired on May 13, 15, and 17, Creative Technology’s involvement began weeks in advance. Extensive pre-configuration, testing, and system simulations ensured every technical element was show-ready upon arrival.

“It’s an enormous technical undertaking,” concludes Ljung, “but when everything comes together—when each act has their moment exactly as intended—it’s incredibly rewarding.”
