NBA-London

Creative Technology delivers full broadcast and arena production for NBA games in Berlin and London

Creative Technology (CT) played a central role in delivering two major NBA international fixtures, providing complete technical production across Berlin and London within the same week.

Supporting packed arenas and a worldwide broadcast to more than 200 countries, CT delivered the full technical infrastructure across both events, integrating broadcast, audio, lighting, LED, rigging and communications.

Having previously supported multiple NBA events in Paris for 3 years,  CT was brought in through the league’s technical partners as the sole technical lead, managing every element of production across both cities and scaling the setup to suit each venue.

Full technical delivery across both events

Across Berlin and London, CT provided:

  • Full communications networks
  • Fibre backbone distribution
  • Front-of-house and control audio systems
  • Radio microphones and IEM/monitor packages
  • Courtside LED screens with playback
  • Multi-camera broadcast systems with RF capability.

Consolidating all services under one provider gave the NBA and its partners a streamlined workflow and a single point of contact, simplifying delivery across two complex international shows.

Berlin: broadcast-focused delivery

Berlin centred on a streamlined, broadcast-led setup. CT delivered a four-camera package with two RF handheld systems, alongside courtside LED and the full comms and audio infrastructure. The approach prioritised speed and efficiency while maintaining broadcast-grade quality throughout.

London: full arena production

At The O2, the production expanded into a full arena-scale show.

CT scaled up to a five-camera broadcast package including Steadicam, comprehensive audio systems for Sports Presentation and half time show, full flown rigging, and an extensive lighting design to support both pre-show and half-time performances. Courtside and gondola LED screens supported the live arena experience while delivering reliable coverage for the international feed.

The lighting deployment alone was significant:

  • 160+ moving and static fixtures
  • Automated followspot systems
  • Pre-rig truss structures
  • Over 10 tonnes of equipment
  • Kilometres of power, data and control cabling
  • A half-time show lighting system deployed live in just 2.5 minutes

The rapid half-time load-in and load-out, executed live on camera, highlighted the precision and experience of the crew.

Agile delivery across two cities

Staged back-to-back within the same week, both events continued to evolve in scope, with additional RF cameras introduced in Berlin and Steadicam coverage added in London. CT absorbed these changes quickly and without disruption.

An integrated approach across broadcast, audio, lighting, rigging, LED and comms meant issues were resolved fast, keeping the focus on the show rather than the logistics.

With crews of 15 in Berlin and 40 in London, CT managed complex technical footprints while providing the client with a single production lead. This joined-up delivery simplified communication with the NBA and their technical partner, TAIT, and ensured consistency across both cities.

Built for global sport

These projects underline CT’s strength as a full-service technical partner for international sporting events. Few suppliers can design, supply and integrate every production discipline at short notice, across multiple locations, while maintaining both broadcast standards and arena-scale presentation.

CT delivers the scale and technical capability required for world-class sporting events.

For the NBA, this delivered two major events executed smoothly and consecutively. For CT, it reinforces how the right expertise, technical capability, and on-the-ground team enable complex international productions to run with ease.
