Creative Technology was commissioned by eCarExpo to light the entire arena with more than 2,000 fixtures hung on 11 rows of trusses along the entire floor area. A sound system of L-Acoustics X12 and SB18 was set up to support a dancing flash mob that performed during the fair, and in several of the exhibition stands, custom LED screens were built, and extra lights were set up to make the cars shine. In addition, a 14 x 9 meter truss structure based on a ground support was built for one of the fair’s cafes. Light fixtures with colored light were placed in the truss legs to make the whole structure stand out.
A total of 4.5 km of cables, 1.9 km of truss and 9 trailers with equipment from several different warehouses, as well as a team of 26 technicians, stage hands and production managers were required to realize the projekt.
“It is a logistical challenge to plan this large a rig and get everything flowing and ready on time, so that the contractors can come in and do their part. The team has been fantastic at guiding and helping each other and everyone has taken on a lot of responsibility. It is important to us that the crew is happy, then you’ll do a much better job. It is also important that the younger ones are involved and grow into larger roles together with those who have long an experience. We have a prestigeless team where everyone can really be themselves. We get along well together”, says Magnus Jansson, production manager at Creative Technology.
eCarExpo Stockholm will return to Friends Arena on the first weekend in February 2024. eCarExpo Gothenburg will be held on the first weekend in December this year at Svenska Mässan. In 2023, the fair will also visit Tallinn and Copenhagen, and in 2024 it will premiere in Oslo and Helsinki.
