400 leaders from 23 countries joined the livestreamed conference during two days of panel discussions, remote call-ins, interviews, keynote presentations and hybrid workshops. Despite not being able to all meet in person, the innovative technology created a highly effective conference environment, connecting participants, presenters and hosts virtually with minimal delays or issues. To spur discussions on various topics Creative Technology’s interactive platform tecViz Event was used to through polls and let the virtual attendees send their questions to presenters and guests in the studio. Besides the on-site presenters, several keynote speakers were invited via live links, sharing thoughts on purpose, strategy, leadership, culture and execution.
“We are so happy that Creative Technology was recommended to us as a partner for the GLC. The CT team were simply outstanding! Flawless execution of our most important communication event of the year. This was truly invaluable”, says Christian Lautitzen, Head of Group People& Organisational Development at ISS.
Creative Technology was brought on early in the process by the event agency Workz, and together we planned the 2021 version of ISS’s annual conference GLC, which this year was held virtually due to covid. The first step was to find a suitable venue for the custom built studio and the choice fell on Tivoli Hotel and Congress Center in Copenhagen.
After a couple of initial briefing meetings with the client, Creative Technology’s project managers developed a visual concept including drawings and sketches of the studio, resulting in the final blueprint for what was to became the ISS GLC 2021 Studio.
The studio set design had a round shape and was based on an area of approximately 20 meters in diameter. Three large high-res LED screens were set up to create various visual environments using dynamic graphics. The screens were also used to play video clips and show presentations, call-ins, polls and voting results. Rows of LED strips surrounded the screens, shaping a connection between various visual elements. Monitors were set-up for the studio hosts and guests to view the program’s live feed and to follow presentations.
“We wanted to create a dynamic studio with several different positions, and at the same time achieve a symmetric whole with the main stage constituting a high impact key note presentation position, with large crane shots. The set was required to accommodate call-in panels, interviews, on-site panel discussions, keynote presentation positions and a mix of remote and on-site talks, and I think we did a pretty good job of achieving that in a creative yet stylish way”, says Olof Bull, Key Account and Senior project manager at Creative Technology.
Besides the video setup of screens and playout, CT also provided a five camera production with camera crane, full control room on-site, studio lighting, broadcast audio and all technical operators and project management needed for a smooth production operation. CT’s technical crew managed all graphic contents, live links to remote sites, and operated the tecViz Event interactive platform. Voting results and audience responses were displayed on the large screens as graphs, word clouds and comments.
“In covid times the biggest challenge was of course that of mitigating the risk of infection for everyone on-site. Each day quick testing was applied for all people involved to create a safe working environment. Everything went smooth without issues and the execution of the final product was a success. We are indeed proud to have been taking part of this project and we thank everyone involved for a great collaboration”, says Olof Bull.
