Audio Highlight: RDS Venue & Event space showcase

Our Live Events team provided a full bespoke audio set-up for the RDS Venue & Event space showcase in June 2023

The RDS welcomed their clients for an in-depth tour of their venue and its event spaces, as well as the unveiling of their brand new event space, ‘The Church’.

As their proud Audio Visual partner, we provided the full technical production for the showcase. For the visuals, our Live events team installed a projection screen in the Main Hall and a large LED screen in the Concert Hall. which displayed highlight reels and collages, provided by our Creative Services team, which showcased past events, providing the perfect backdrop for speeches and presentations throughout the evening.

It also provided us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase our new D&B Audiotechnik technology, which has been transforming and enhancing audio experiences across our recent events.

The D&B T10 is a passive 2-way loudspeaker, that can be used as both a line array and a high directivity point source.

With it’s high SPL and small box, it is extremely light and includes integrated rigging, allowing us to fly it in all kinds of spaces, even where roof loads may have limited other PA choices.

When coupled with the flown T-Sub and ground Y-Sub, we can safely & easily provide a 4-way system to provide a seamless audio experience suitable for bands, DJ’s or corporate events.

Our set-up for the Concert Hall (Hall 7) consisted of:

16 x d&b Audiotechnik T10 line array (8 flown per side)
2 x d&b Audiotechnik T-Sub (flown) giving extended low-end response for the T10 flown system
4 x d&b Audiotechnik T10 point source placed as front fill
4 x d&b Audiotechnik Y-Sub in a spaced cardioid array giving equal sub coverage throughout
2 x d&b Audiotechnik D12 networked amplifier racks giving us 16 channels of amplification

To accommodate the speeches and presentations, we supplied Sennheiser 2000 system radio mics with DPA 4288 head worn microphones as well as DPA 4098 podium mics.

The chosen control system was the DiGiCo SD9 with a 32 channel D-Rack

System Design & Time alignment

Our system design was carried out using the d&b Array Calc, which allowed us to meticulously design and predict the coverage of the PA, from right in front of the stage, to the very rear of the hall. Time alignment was carried out using ‘SIA Smaart’, with added system processing within the amps using d&b R1 networking control.
