The Arabian Gulf Cup’s opening ceremony held in Kuwait City transcended traditional sports pageantry, transforming the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium into a technological marvel that celebrated Arabian Sports and Culture. The event, produced by Balich Wonder Studio in collaboration with Suffix, captivated 57,000 spectators with a seamless blend of cultural storytelling and cutting-edge production technology. Behind the spectacle, Creative Technology orchestrated the sophisticated technical framework that brought that vision to life.

The Audio control setup featured mirrored DiGiCo SD12s with SD-Racks handling all I/O, tied into a Dante backbone for seamless signal flow and feed distribution. DirectOut Prodigy.MP units managed the matrixing, redundancies, format conversion, as well as the clocking. On the RF side, Shure Axient Digital and PSM1000 systems provided reliable wireless coverage & coordination. The PA was ground-stacked with a mix of d&b SL-Series—GSL, KSL, XSL, and SL-SUBs—delivering the required coverage and impact for the lower bowl. Audio playback was a key component, driven by an intricately designed and executed QLab show file, seamlessly integrated into the overall system to meet the ceremony’s demands.

This Arabian Gulf Cup show featured a 3000 sqm projection mapping display on the field of play, powered by Panasonic RZ 31K projectors and driven by GX3 Disguise media servers, ensuring precise control and seamless synchronization of visuals. The system delivers sharp, high-quality projections with effective shadow coverage, enhancing the overall visual impact. On the lighting side, the setup for the Arab Gulf Cup Games 2024 was designed by Roland Greil’s team. The rig featured Elation Proteus Brutus fixtures, delivering washes from trusses positioned around the stadium. SGM P-10 wash lights with wide-angle filters enhanced color and illumination, while Elation Proteus Excalibur’s placed on the ground added powerful beams. MDG The One touring units provided consistent haze coverage across the stadium. All lighting was previsualized onsite using two GrandMA3 full-size consoles and two Depence² systems. At front-of-house, the control setup included four GrandMA3 Full-Size consoles, with an additional GrandMA3 Light console serving as a focus desk. The entire rig was integrated with a Follow-Me system, enabling precise control of all lights in the stadium.
