Creative Technology and Artevor joined forces to create a mesmerizing lighting spectacle that elevated Zimmer’s compositions to new heights, immersing the audience in a world of cinematic wonder. Hans Zimmer, the legendary German composer and record producer, has captivated audiences worldwide with his innovative and emotionally charged musical scores. Known for his work on countless blockbuster films, including The Lion King, Inception, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Wonder Woman,Interstellar, and Gladiator, to name a few, Zimmer’s compositions have become synonymous with cinema. His unique ability to blend traditional orchestral elements with cutting-edge electronic sounds has revolutionized the world of film music and earned him numerous accolades, including an Academy Award and multiple Grammy Awards. The lighting design, conceived by the renowned John Fetherstone of Lightswitch, created a visually stunning concert experience that perfectly complemented and elevated his iconic compositions.

The collaboration between Creative Technology and Artevor, brought to life Fetherstone’s vision to life using an impressive array of state-of-the-art equipment. To enhance the visual spectacle, Creative Technology supplied and operated nine follow spots, utilizing their Robe Forte fixtures for precise and powerful spotlighting. Our team’s meticulous attention to detail was evident in their handling of follow spots and cable management, while Unusual Rigging supplied the essential rigging elements. To streamline the process and maximize rehearsal time, Creative Technology pre-loomed all cables, enabling a smooth entry into the arena and significantly reducing load-in times. The fixtures included 9 Robe Robin Forte, 22 Robe BMFL wash beam, 168 Robe Mega pointe, and 9 Robe Robo Follow spot System. All the fixtures were controlled by 2 GRANDMA 3 Full-size and 5 GRANDMA 3 NPU L. The lighting network was managed through 12 Luminex Luminode 12s, ensuring flawless communication and synchronization throughout the show. When commenting about the show, Travis Gillespie, crew chief, said “with great teamwork and planning, we managed the load-in without any hassle.

With nine ROBO follow spots in the show, the lighting network needed a little more attention than usual. Using Netgear M4250 AVLine and Luminex Luminodes made the process easy. The show had two spots on automation trusses, which gave the operator a challenging but rewarding experience.” The atmospheric effects were created using 2 MDG MAX5000 and 4 MDG TheOne Tour Kits, adding an extra layer of depth and immersion to the performance. The sheer scale of the lighting setup was evident in the 10.6KM of DMX cabling used to connect and control the various elements. This extensive network allowed for seamless integration and dynamic control of the lighting, creating a visually stunning experience that perfectly complemented Hans Zimmer’s iconic compositions.
