Projection Mapping Technology Elevates Fujairah Monodrama Festival

Creative Technology deployed a projection system for the Fujairah Monodrama Festival, showcasing how modern visual technology can transform solo theatrical performances into immersive experiences. The team, led by CTME’s Project Manager Zachary Schwandt, brought together high-end projection mapping and advanced signal distribution systems to create a visually stunning experience for festival attendees.

This marks another successful chapter in the Monodrama Festival’s history in Fujairah. Now in its 11th edition, the festival continues to push creative boundaries through solo theatrical performances enhanced by cutting-edge technology. CTME’s client Seven Stars Events orchestrated the comprehensive technical and scenic solutions. To make this vision a reality, Seven Stars Events collaborated with Creative Technology for video mapping expertise and InFrames Content Production for visual content creation, resulting in a breathtaking theatrical environment that elevated every solo performance.

The installation featured a comprehensive projection system divided into two main areas. The side walls utilized eight Epson EB-L1505UH 12K Laser 3LCD Projectors, delivering powerful 12,000-lumen brightness with high-definition clarity. The floor projection employed four Epson EB-L1755U 15K WUXGA Laser 3LCD Projectors, offering even higher 15,000-lumen output with WUXGA resolution for detailed floor visuals. At the heart of the system were 2 Disguise VX4 media servers, known for their powerful real-time media processing.

This sophisticated system enabled complex projection mapping, dynamic content control, and precise control over the entire visual display—critical elements for enhancing the theatrical solo performances that define monodrama. The signal distribution network was equally impressive, featuring Netgear enterprise-grade networking equipment, including

• M4250-26G4F-POE Switches with 26x 1G and 4x 1G-SFP ports for primary signal distribution
• M4300-8X8F Switch with 8x 10G and 8x 10G-SFP ports for high-bandwidth content ingestion
• M4250-10G2F-POE+ Switches with 10x 1G and 2x 1G-SFP ports for additional content distribution

This projection mapping installation demonstrates how modern theatrical events are increasingly leveraging advanced technological solutions to create memorable experiences. The combination setup of the laser projectors with media servers allowed for dynamic content that transformed the performance space and created an additional layer to the narrative, elevating the dramatic impact.

The collaborative effort highlights the UAE’s growing reputation as a hub for innovative artistic practice where technology and theatrical arts converge. As the festival explores new boundaries in theatrical presentation, this technical infrastructure serves as the canvas upon which breathtaking visuals bring solo performances to life, creating a unique cultural experience for audiences.
