Race of Champions (ROC) 2023

The prestigious Race Of Champions (ROC) brings together several of the world's best motorsport drivers. At the end of January, it was decided for the second time in Sweden, at Pite Havsbad. As a proud supplier, Creative Technology supplied LED screens to let spectators and drivers easily follow the action.

ROC was first established in 1988 in France, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the inaugural World Rally Drivers Championship. Today ROC has become the ultimate showdown of motorsport. The world-renowned annual knockout motor sport event features some of the world’s greatest drivers – from Formula 1, Nascar, LeMans, IndyCar and Rally X – battling in identical cars for the titles of ‘Champion of Champions’ (Race Of Champions) and ‘World’s Fastest Nation’ (ROC Nations Cup).

Creative Technology’s team established an 81 square meter mobile LED screen in the competition area, strategically placed so that everyone in the audience had a clear vision of it. The TV broadcast from the competitions, advertising, information and interviews were displayed on the screen.

Right at the starting point, the team also built a smaller, double-sided LED screen mounted on a truss, where they displayed the names and nationalities of the starting drivers, as well as advertising.

The technical team, consisting of a technician and a video producer, ensured both the establishment of the screens and the playback of the content once the competitions started.

A mobile LED screen is a popular choice at outdoor events. The screen is transported in a trailer and powered by a built-in generator. It is quick to set up and within approximately an hour, it can start displaying content.

“We have a long and wide experience of working with winter events, which makes us a stable and safe partner in winter sports. We have been involved in most types of winter environments and know how to handle the technology in all weathers. This year, however, we encountered no major challenges, there were fantastic conditions with sun and fine weather all week”, says Jan-Olof Roos, video producer from Creative Technology.
