As festival goers all over the country eagerly counted down the days for the return of R&L, CT were already all hands-on-deck, working hard behind the scenes with long-standing client, Festival Republic. For 2021, plans were already in motion to significantly scale-up the festival by introducing an additional main stage at each site.
CT supplied all the LED to each of the 4 main stages. This included a 181 sqm upstage screen and the same huge curved I-mag screens that wowed audiences back in 2019 at each stage. However, with these being doubled in quantity and coming in at 22.5m x 12m each, it was a massive delivery of over 25 Artics worth of LED over one weekend, totalling over 96 million pixels!
To give the I-mags their unique shape, CT’s experienced in-house team designed and commissioned fabrication of the custom-made 10 degree hanging brackets to create the smooth on and offstage curves required by Festival Republic.
A complex 4K signal distribution system allowed for 4K signal to be picked up from the stage and both FOH positions before being pushed back to control and onto the I-mags. Though having played a huge role in festival deliveries for years, this recent move to higher resolutions on much larger screens has really driven the production values and technical delivery into cutting edge territory, with high quality 4K video carried over large distances to the LED screens.
On top of this, CT were also on-hand to provide a large amount of artist extras throughout the festival including additional camera systems and on-stage screens to enhance performances and bring something new and visually engaging to incoming artists.
After winning ‘Best LED Screen Supplier Award’ at the 2020 Festival Supplier Awards for delivery of R&L 2019, it was a huge achievement to double this colossal delivery with four main stages at the 2021 event and we look forward to seeing what 2022 may have in store!
