Space about to open in Stockholm

Space is a place where you can go with your friends and play on the most powerful computers on the market. The ambition is to attract really well-known e-sport names and host large e-sports events.

Space is located right next to Sergels torg in Stockholm, on several floors in one of Hötorgsskraporna. In addition to the state-of-the-art gaming section, there is an event arena for both traditional events and conferences, as well as large-scale hybrid events. The arena is expected to hold one to two events a day, and already now the venue is booked by a number of customers.

Visitors can enjoy cafeterias and bars around the arena and the gaming center. A shop and another event space will receive visitors and guests for mingling, conferences and dinners.

Creative Technology (CT) is a technical partner to Pophouse Entertainment, which runs the Space project. CT delivers all technology throughout the center – from LCD screens and media servers, to a massive audio and lighting rig in the arena, as well as a 19 x 5 m 8K curved LED screen – one of the most high-res screens in northern Europe. All technology is connected to a crestron system which can trigger technical functions via, for example, an iPhone.

The co-working area, located on three floors, has both open lounge-like office landscapes and traditional meeting rooms, all with technology installed by CT. Here, guests will be able to rent a workplace for a day, a week, a month, or longer.

Fredrik Lyckman at Creative Technology is a Senior Technical Advisor to Pophouse Entertainment and customers who want to arrange events in the arena, and will be coordinating the technical operations there. Fredrik has been involved since the start and has worked throughout the whole process of installing the technology.

– Everything with this project is extraordinary. At CT we are used to delivering premium, but usually on a slightly smaller scale. Here, we deliver premium on a huge scale – all the way, straight through, down to the smallest detail. In such large projects, one may usually reduce the ambition in certain choices, but here not a single detail is compromised. It has been extremely exciting for us as a supplier to work with this fantastic customer who has relied on us one hundred percent.

The challenges have mainly been the very tight deadlines, in an already pressured project with very high demands. Only the very best has been good enough to be used on Space. The difficulties have mainly revolved around delivery times due to the global situation with production and transports. To solve the challenges, the CT team has found a number of innovative solutions to meet all deadlines. The process has involved large parts of the company and many different functions.

– Basically, all our Swedish offices have been involved in one way or another in this project. It has been great to work with all of our in-house expertise; there is always someone to support you in any area and together we’ve come up with the best solutions, says Fredrik Lyckman.
