It is no secret that the live events industry is crying out for new talent and over the last few years the shortage of crew and freelancers has been apparent across all markets, creating challenges never seen before. Working closely with some of our key clients we were able to create a space where experienced industry professionals could engage with some extremely talented and driven individuals keen to take their first steps into a career within the live events or closely related industries.
“It was fantastic to be invited to contribute at CT Fest in April of 2022. As always it was a great occasion for experiencing new technical solutions, but even more exciting for me was the opportunity to meet the next generation of talent.” – David Jones, Head of Events at WRG.
It was immediately apparent that these people are the future of CT and it has been incredible to be able to offer this gateway into our world in order to continue evolving our company and reinvesting into our ‘special sauce’ – which has and will always be, our people!
“It was very striking how knowledgeable and passionate the next generation of event professionals are, not just in sustainability but across events generally, and how much great new thinking they bring to us as they enter our industry. CTFest22 provided a powerful forum for learning and sharing, and for making connections with the people who will one day help us reshape the world of live events and experiences.” – Josh Willmot, Senior Producer at TFI Lodestar.
With seven people now employed across a variety of our teams including Virtual Production, Vision, Audio, and Integrated Networks our new employees have hit the ground running and we are so proud to have them on board.
We spoke to one of our new employees who joined Creative Technology as a full-time Technician after attending CTFest22.
“I came to CTFest22 last spring as a 3rd year student at the University of Chichester. Whilst attending the event I was given the opportunity to network with engineers, technical staff, and other companies within the industry. I really enjoyed getting to experience the live equipment demos and talking to the engineers about how it all works.
As I was studying in film technology at the time, I found the Panasonic Kairos demo particularly interesting and wanted to learn more – this ultimately led to me applying for a placement. During this placement I gained a lot of experience, helping to prep various live events including Glastonbury and the Commonwealth Games.
At the end of this placement, I was offered a full-time job within the Integrated Networks department where I have spent a lot of time on-site in the UK and overseas working on a variety of large-scale sporting and corporate events. I am really enjoying my time at Creative Technology and am excited to see what the future brings.” – Ben Collins, Technician at Creative Technology UK.
Thank you to all of our clients and partners that support our ConneCT initiative – with your help we can keep driving this momentum forward and further grow our industry with unrivalled talent and innovative technology solutions for years to come.
“It was great to have been invited to CTFest22. As an agency, Chorus supports the investment in the next generation, which will support the industry moving forwards”. – Andy Fenn Higgins, Director of Technical Production at Chorus.
