Bombay Sapphire Distillery | Botanical Room Upgrade

Bombay Sapphire has unveiled the reimagined Botanical Room at its world-renowned brand home in Laverstoke Mill. The updated space celebrates the artistry, ingredients and craftsmanship behind the gin, bringing visitors closer to the ten botanicals that define its distinctive flavour.

Working with our partners at Open Creative and COG Live, Creative Technology delivered the digital layer of the experience, with an AV system that sits comfortably within the space. The technology reinforces the narrative without drawing attention to itself, while creating a platform that can adapt over time.

Building a Digital Storytelling Framework.

The Botanical Room features portrait-mounted Allsee LCD displays that guide visitors through the origin, character and role of each botanical. The screens present a mix of video and still imagery, aligned with the flow of the visitor journey and led by a team of expert hosts.

It gives the brand control over pacing, while keeping each botanical consistent in how it is presented. The system also supports how stories around sourcing, suppliers and craftsmanship are communicated, without overcomplicating the experience.

Operating without audio was a deliberate decision. It allows the architecture, materials and lighting within the space to come through, maintaining a calm, more controlled atmosphere and keeping the focus on the guided tour.

The Technology Behind the Scenes.

Although the setup may appear simple, but it is supported by a robust and carefully planned infrastructure.

Each group of screens is connected to a local network switch, discreetly housed within the bespoke cabinetry, and linked through the distillery’s wider IT network. This keeps all ten displays synchronised and ensures reliable performance across the space.

Content is managed through MySignagePortal, giving the Bombay Sapphire team the ability to update, schedule and manage content remotely. It allows for seasonal or campaign-led updates without the need for on-site intervention.

Day-to-day operation has been kept straightforward. A single power action brings the system online, with content loading automatically and remaining ready for use throughout opening hours. It reduces the burden on staff and ensures the space is always ready for tours.

For added interactivity, a Nexmosphere RFID reading system was integrated into the screen setup, enabling curated content to be triggered using a dedicated RFID fob. This gives the distillery team flexibility during private tours or more tailored sessions, allowing them to highlight specific botanicals or storylines when needed. The system is closed, meaning only the assigned fob can activate this content, keeping the experience consistent and controlled.

Designed for an Evolving Visitor Experience.

The Botanical Room forms part of a wider programme of investment at Laverstoke Mill, including the addition of a cinema space, updates to the outdoor areas and enhancements to the café and tasting experiences. Together, these changes strengthen how visitors connect with the brand and its process.

Creative Technology delivered a system built to support this long-term vision. The installation provides a reliable and flexible foundation, giving structure to the storytelling while allowing content to evolve over time without changes to the physical space.
