The 2026 London Marathon delivered one of the most remarkable moments in the event’s history. Sabastian Sawe rewrote the record books, breaking the two‑hour barrier with a stunning 1:59:30 finish, while Tigst Assefa successfully defended her women’s title on a day that will be remembered for years to come.
As the drama unfolded on The Mall, Creative Technology supported the finish‑line delivery once again, working closely with the London Marathon Events team to ensure the scale and significance of the moment were reflected on site.
For 2026, Creative Technology supplied:
- A double‑sided finish gantry built with ROE BQ4, delivering 81m² of high‑resolution LED
- A ROE BQ6 LED banner, measuring 1 metre high by 192 metres long, extending the visual impact along the course
With increased service provision this year, the London Marathon Events content team were able to run synchronised graphics across both the gantry and the banner, creating a seamless visual experience at the most critical point of the race.
The project was delivered by Creative Technology’s engineering team, supported by local crew, continuing a long‑standing and evolving relationship with London Marathon Events.
Congratulations to Sabastian Sawe, Tigst Assefa, and to every runner who crossed the line on an unforgettable day in London.
