Amazon MGM Studios Wins Sports Emmy Award for NBA on Prime Video Studio

Amazon MGM Studios’ NBA on Prime Video studio has been recognized with a 2026 Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Technical Team: Sports Studio.  The award honors the team behind one of the most ambitious and technologically advanced sports broadcast facilities in the industry.

Located at Amazon MGM Studios in Culver City, California, the 13,000-square-foot, two-story studio was designed to support Prime Video’s new NBA coverage and features a regulation half-court, immersive LED environments, and flexible production spaces capable of transforming instantly between game analysis, storytelling, and live studio programming. The facility incorporates more than 2,300 LED tiles and extensive virtual production technology to create dynamic, broadcast-ready environments.

Creative Technology’s Film & Entertainment division was part of the project team responsible for bringing the studio to life. CT provided video engineering expertise along with LED system design and installation, helping create a large-scale LED environment capable of delivering both broadcast precision and realistic in-camera imagery. The project included the engineering and installation of LED systems designed to support multiple studio configurations while maintaining the visual realism required for live sports production.

The Sports Emmy recognizes the collaborative efforts of the production, engineering, design, and technology teams that developed the studio and supported NBA on Prime Video throughout its inaugural season. Following the success of the NBA season, Prime Video has continued utilizing the studio as part of its expanding live sports coverage, including WNBA programming.
